Sponsor Ideas for Game Day Themes
Below are some ideas on how you as a sponsor can get creative with a “theme” for a sponsorship of a game or games. If any of these ideas intrigue you or if this spurs new ideas on your part, reach out to your GSP contact.
PINK – Breast Cancer Awareness
GREEN – Energy Conservation Awareness
GOLD – Senior Citizen Awareness
TAILGATE MONTH – You could promote a month in which tailgating is the focus. “Cub Foods Tailgate Month” and, at every football game, videos could be taken of the tailgaters and Cub (sponsor example) could give away tailgate items. Additionally, they could have their own big tailgate at the game giving away promo items. Radio commercials could promote specials on tailgate items at their local Cub Store.
Wind-Powered Game
“Made in Minnesota” Day – Perhaps you could even have a sponsor that is local and has been in the city for a long time. You could highlight players/coaches that are born/raised in Minnesota, etc.
“Gophers Give Back” – This could be a month/week/game. You could have a presenting sponsor and several charities/organizations involved. The game/week could be dedicated to getting the fans and community involved in giving back to the community.
“Gopher Restaurant Week” – You could have a presenting or title sponsor. All fans who bring their game ticket to the restaurant that week will receive a free appetizer/discount on their meal/buy one get one, etc. This could be promoted throughout all mediums!
“Black Out Game” – This may already be something that is done and promoted through the athletic department. However, you could have a electric/power company sponsor this black out. “The only black-out we support.” Or something along those lines. All fans are encouraged to wear black…this could be promoted and marketed in advance.
“Youth Day” – The idea is that local schools are offered cheap tickets and the game experience is full of health and exercise tips and activities.
